AUDIENCE REASEARCH -RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS

ANALYSIS OF DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD ARTICLES

ANALYSIS OF PROFESSIONAL CONTENTS PAGE

INITIAL PLANS FOR MY MAGAZINE

As result of my research i think i should focus on a bi weekly magazine as most magazines that were weekly tended to have a lot more of a busy chaotic style as to how they arranged the front cover page, at the other end of the spectrum we have the monthly magazine which yes has a faikrly neater house style, yet a much busier contents page which would be hard to replicate well and get a good grade for due to the fact there are so many articles this is different from the weekly magazine who make a large thing out of the feature article which will generally dominate half a column with the large text and image..as a result of this i chose a bi weekly magazine which has a mix of the two ie making a large focal point out of the main article while making sure it looks well presented like in a monthly magazine.
Pricing wise the prices i have seen whilst researching have been around the £4.00 upwards for a monthly/bi weekly and £2.90 upwards for a weekly magazine...from comments of fellow peers during the reasearch process I have decided that this pricing is too high..most people of our age group(my target audience) would not go out and spend this amount on magazines per week/bi week/monthly as they do not have the money to so would probably only buy the odd issue if they liked the main article or had a particular interest in one of the other artists featured inside, or possibly free items or deals that come with it.In conclusion to this pricing will be around the £2.50 to £3.50 range.
The size of the issue as it is a fortnightly magazine would be around the 64 page range as that is the amount of pages in a kerrang magazine which is published in the time scale i wish my magazine to fit.

INITIAL IDEAS FOR MY MAGAZINE

rough layout of contents page

for the rough layout of the contents page i looked through various magazines and noticed common themes and features and then produced a basic outline for a front cover from this.
